Pregnancy is a life-changing time full of excitement, joy, and wonder, which you wish to remember in the future. A maternity photo session can be an enjoyable way to capture special moments and create the very first part of your baby’s story.
My maternity sessions focused on emotions, light, and details. It is all about you and what this moment means for you. Take the time to talk with your photographer a week or two before the session to flesh out your goals and get advice. You can ask the guidance of what to take with and how to prepare to make sure that you have a fun and wonderful maternity session. The photo shoot can take place in our Offenburg based studio or in the comfort of your home, or on location.
Family
If possible, make the pregnancy a family event. Let your partner join the photoshoot, if you have children, let them be part of the fun. This is allowing us to capture the close connection between your family and bump.
While the baby bump is the focus of the photos, let your partner also enjoy the time in front of the camera. Some photos may include a close-up of the father and the baby bump. This creates an intimate feeling where everything revolves around the father and the baby.
Your other little ones are as excited as you are about their little brother or sister arriving. By including them in your maternity photos, you can show their real joy and happiness while capturing sweet moments before your family grows. Adding props like baby shoes, stuffed animals or letter pads is a fun way to get things mixed up. You can get creative by placing the props in the right place and focusing on your bump. If you know the baby’s gender or have already chosen a name, this is a great time to display these things! Maternity photography sessions are taken either in your home, studio or on location somewhere for a more natural style and always have a nice relaxed feel to them.
When should maternity sessions take place
The best time during your pregnancy for a maternity portrait session is between 31 and 36 weeks. This is the time when women have a lovely full and round shape. It is also the perfect time when you will feel comfortable. Plus you might want to show off some of your best photos at your baby shower!
Focus on the emotions you’re experiencing and keep them in mind during their session. Use all those hormones to your advantage!
What should I wear?
This is the most asked question from expecting moms. Maxi dresses are great for this, as are t-shirts that hug your tummy, over jeans, layers look great, simply-styled top, with full skirts. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. We can always discuss what to wear before the photoshoot and I can give my suggestions on what to wear from your garderobe. You can get your hair and makeup done professionally the day of your shoot. It’s totally worth it to indulge in a mini-makeover day, and get those ringlet curls or the blow-out you love, and have your makeup just right. A fresh coat of nail polish will make a world of difference in your photoshoot. Pick a neutral color that won’t distract in your shoot or clash with your outfits.
There’s no reason to feel nervous or unattractive when having your photos taken. You don’t have to worry about being perfect. Just be yourself, relax and enjoy while I will be documenting this part of your new journey.
